The Rescue Princesses: The Secret Promise by Paula Harrison ~ Lil Butterfly Reviews

Publication Date: April 1, 2012
Publisher: Nosy Crow
Genre: Children's Fiction
Format: Paperback

Princess Emily is excited about her first Grand Ball, but she’d rather be on the zip wire in the castle grounds than trying on dresses. Her three friends feel the same, so they slip out after dinner. A zip wire in the dark is excellent fun! But things take a serious turn when the girls find a trapped deer in the forest. Who would do such an awful thing, and why?

Daniella's Review

This book is about four princesses who save some deer from a man called Duke Raven who is trying to kill the deer for their antlers.

The main characters are Emily, Clarabel, Lulu, and Jaminta who are all princesses and friends with each other.  I think Emily is a little too ordinary. Clarabel is very kind. Lulu is very crazy, but I think the author should have added more parts where Lulu starts to act crazy to make the book funnier.  Jaminta is very good at making things.

Pros:
- I liked the action especially at one point in the story when they were running through the woods.
- The characters act like normal kids on an adventure.

Cons:
I wish it was a little bit more entertaining and funny because some parts got boring.
- I would like it to be longer so more things can happen.

I think this book was good and I would read the other books in The Rescue Princesses series.

My Rating:

Hi my name is Daniella and I am 9 years old. I enjoy reading because after every book I feel proud to have finished a book and most of the time I learned something new. I love getting new books and I love their smell. My favorite books are Dork Diaries, Peter Pan, and Holes. Also I like cheesecake, drawing, and playing on the Wii.
